Personal Speech Therapy, Inc is owned and operated by Katherine McDonough, M.S., CCC-SLP.
Hello! I am Katherine McDonough, M.S., CCC-SLP. Everyone calls me Katie.
I'm a speech therapist with a broad experience in different settings and with different populations and I enjoy working with a variety of clients.
I have treated a very wide range of ages, from toddlers around 18 months old to patients in skilled nursing centers who are in their nineties. I really enjoy figuring out the best way to help each client as well as working with, and training, family and communication partners.
I have experience with language disorders, early intervention, autism spectrum disorder, articulation and phonological disorders, cognitive disorders, dysphagia (swallowing disorders), apraxia of speech, augmentative & alternative communication, fluency, and voice disorders.
I received my Master's degree in speech language pathology from the University of Utah after getting an undergraduate degree in English from Washington University in St. Louis. I have worked for a private, outpatient clinic in the Bay area in all three of its locations, in multiple skilled nursing facilities, and also in the homes of clients in cities around the Bay. During my schooling in Utah, I had a chance to complete one of my internships at the specialized Voice Disorders Center at the University of Utah. I am licensed in California and I have the Certificate of Clinical Compentence from ASHA.
In my free time, I enjoy spending time with my husband, family, and friends. Activities I find entertaining include playing tennis, reading, playing the piano and singing, watching movies, traveling, hiking, and cooking/baking. I also am fond of art and creative projects, and I really like coming up with crafts for young clients to try.
